Canblaster - I Think About U

Club Cherval affiliate Canblaster has a new EP coming September 16, which shows a bit of a direction for the French dance producer. Standout "I Think About U" certainly has some neo-soul elements in play, but the experimental touches - filtered with the undeniably catchy break at 1:30 - make for something fairly extraordinary. Stream the effort below and pre-order the Infinite EP here.

Mixtape: Knxwledge - Touching Bass (Noisey Series)

The newest installment in Noisey's Touching Bass mixtape series comes from LA producer Knxwledge, who packs the near 40-minute smash with low-hung rap hits, warped with mind-melting production. The whole effort is available for stream/download below, and comes with a special interview with the 25-year-old. In it, he talks about his love for jerked chicken, his sneaker collection, and the Jersey-centric samples he taps into on the mix (including a lot from Hype Williams 1998 film Belly, starring Nas and DMX).

Julianna Barwick - The Harbinger (Live on Take Away Show)

Director Derrick Belchman penned this wonderfully shot footage of atmosphere music extraordinaire Julianna Barwick for the most recent Take Away Show performance. Fans of La Blogotheque will be familiar with the beautiful take, but in case you're new here, get up on all of it now.

The footage was taken in the consistent majesty of Iceland, which seems astoundingly fitting for Barwick's style with "The Harbinger." It comes from her wonderful new LP Nepenthe, which is available now on Dead Oceans.

Mixtape: Flatbush Zombies - BetteroffDEAD

Ultra-prolific rap trio Flatbush Zombies just burst your Thursday wide open with the brand new BetteroffDEAD mixtape. Group member Erick Arc Elliott does the majority of the production, but two of the 19 tracks feature help from Harry Fraud and Obey City. Additionally, OLD rapper Danny Brown sits in on "Drug Parade" and Action Bronson helps out with a guest verse on "Club Soda."

Stream the whole effort below, which available for free download.

Jacco Gardner - The End Of August

After releasing his debut album and touring, Dutch musician Jacco Gardner has come back with a brand new 7", "The End Of August" b/w "Notus." The former is available below, and features the multi-talented Gardner sitting in on every instrument outside of drums for the gently-swaying effort. The 7" is set for physical release September 24 on the Trouble In Mind imprint, and will be made on 500 random-colored vinyls. Until then, stream "The End Of August" below.

CRUSHING BLOWS - Dreams On/Dream Off

Over at Music Ninja, shoegaze fuzz outfit CRUSHING BLOWS debuted the second piece of the new Double-A Side release with "Dream On/Dream Off." The first of the two tracks, "Unknown Animal," debuted over at The 405 before, just in case you forgot the other stuff that I do. Stream "Dream On/Dream Off" below, which is also available on the group's Bandcamp before the October 7 release, courtesy of Snug Recording Company.

EP Stream: L. Pierre - Surface Noise

Fans of Arab Strap front-man Aidan Moffat might not be too familiar with his outside efforts as L. Pierre. The aesthetic between the two projects is noticeably parallel, with L. Pierre's playing the role of an older, investigative producer. On his brand new EP Surface Noise, available to stream in full below, Moffat explores open lanes of space and vintage-sounding scratches, parlaying between indignantly modern styles while visiting haunting older sounds.

Album Stream: Sir Froderick - Consolidate

Producer Sir Froderick debuted an oddball assortment of original material yesterday in a 22-track masterful effort entitled Consolidate. The producer mashed an unbelievable amount of elements together, from scattered soul and bass funk to downright silly renderings of notorious one-hit wonders like Color Me Badd's "I Wanna Sex You Up." Thankfully the full effort comes across much stronger than some of the pieces might entail.

Froderick has four of the 22 tracks, available to stream below, courtesy of his Bandcamp. Physical copies of the release are now limited to CD, with the cassette versions already sold out. As of this minute only 5(!) are left (out of 9), so if you're quick you might still have time. The CD comes paired with nine pieces of original art, specially made for the release, which explains the supremely rare quantity.

SOHN - Lessons

It's been roughly a year since we've heard anything from Viennese producer SOHN, who lifted the brand new "Lessons" from his forthcoming full-length debut. The limber, delicate track ebbs between sun-soaked R&B and subtle electro inspiration, a la How To Dress Well at its best.

Check the track out below, which will be released as a digital single September 23 and on 12" in November, courtesy of 4AD.

Pangea - Offer

Garage revivalists Pangea have brought out the brand new "Offer," the B-Side to its recently released 7" "Snakedog." The latter is a straight-forward garage romp, while the former builds to inexorable highs. Both climb in conveniently spurts, perfect for that last minute West Coast party you've been meaning to set up.

Check both singles out below, courtesy of Harvest.

Deer Tick - The Dream's In The Ditch

Over the course of the next few weeks, Deer Tick will be releasing bits and pieces of its new LP Negativity up until its formal September 24 release. The first of which comes in the form of a slow-motion, reverse shot video for the criminally crafty "The Dream's In The Ditch." It's a relatively simple video, featuring the band's adventurous limo ride through Providence, Rhode Island, performing the ol' Chinese Fire Drill.

Check it out below. Negativity is set for release September 24 in the U.S. and 30 in Europe, courtesy of Partisan Records. Also catch the band performing "The Dream's In The Ditch" on Conan September 25.

Franz Ferdinand video - Evil Eye

Director Diane Martel, who's biggest claim to fame is her video for Robin Thicke's mega-hit "Blurred Lines," stepped back in the ring again with the thoroughly violent new video for Franz Ferdinand's "Evil Eye."

The Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action single features a VHS-level array of B-movie violence in a freakish ray of Americana phantasm. So the NSFW label does as well here as it did in "Blurred Lines."

Check out the video below. Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action  is out now on Domino.

Ásgeir - Torrent

Last September, Icelandic artist Ásgeir made his native debut, in relatively explosive terms. His album Dyrd í dauðathogn, which will be released in the States October 28 as The Silence, was the fastest selling debut in his native island's history, surpassing even the triumphant legends of Sigur Ros and Bjork. To give some perspective, Ásgeir's debut is already owned by one out of every 10 Icelandic residents.

After being released in several other European countries and being nominated for numerous awards, Ásgeir has booked his first official UK headlining show, with a tour commencing later in October. Check out the tour dates here, as well as "Torrent," the electric first single from Dyrd í dauðathogn below.

TV On The Radio video - Mercy

With the new videos for "Mercy" and "Million Miles," you'd figure we'd here something concrete on a new album from TV On The Radio. While it's pretty evident that the band will be releasing a new LP on guitarist Dave Sitek's Federal Prism imprint pretty soon, there hasn't been much in the way of total confirmation. Until then, watch the brand new stop-motion animated video for "Mercy" from director Dawn Garcia.

Boreals - No Te Metas Las Manos En Los Bolsillos

For those lost, the literal translation of "No Te Metas Las Manos En Los Bolsillos" is "Don't Put Your Hands In Your Pockets." But the real interest is in the track itself. It comes from the Barcelona-based Boreals, a trio of young 20-somethings churning out delicate Spanish-infused guitar infused with an ecstatic array of synth-laced funk. Sounds impossible, but when it all comes together at around the one minute mark, you get it.

Check the track out below from the band's upcoming LP Antípodas, courtesy of Irregular Records.

New Oneohtrix Point Never - Zebra

After debuting "Problem Areas" early last month, Daniel Lopatin, aka Oneohtrix Point Never, is back with another taste of his forthcoming R Plus Seven LP, "Zebra."

The heady, masterfully complex track cracks in at about seven minutes, but it feels like it trips on to a possible endless extreme. The beauty of Lopatin's project is that the inescapable endless rift seems to effortlessly tapped into, whether it comes from Rifts or his new album. And as enjoyably diverse and deep as "Zebra" comes to be, it only feels like a microcosm of something much bigger.

Stream the track below. R Plus Seven is due out October 1 on Warp.

Preview: Arcade Fire's 'Reflektor'

We're still about two months away from the biggest release of 2013, Arcade Fire's fourth LP Reflektor. But today the band finally debuted something in the way of new music with a 40 second preview of the album. No lyrics, of course, but it does prelude something in the way of a single for next week.

Just a reminder, the James Murphy-produced album will be released October 29 on Merge.

New Ryan Hemsworth - Against A Wall (ft. Lofty305)

Because its still in fact 2013, that means there has to be more Ryan Hemsworth music on the horizon.

The extra-prolific producer announced yet another project for this year, next months full-length Guilt Trips LP. Hemsworth is apparently trying to expand the warmth and inviting touch he brought in with his Still Awake EP, bringing some vocal help on the way. Check out the first taste of Guilt Trips, "Against A Wall" featuring Lofty305, below. The album is set for release October 22 on Last Gang.

Album Download: Knifefight - Knifefight

Knifefight, made up of rapper Beans and Brooklyn producer Mux Mool, has a beauty of a free mixtape courtesy of Anticon.

The six-track effort comes with Mux Mool's calm digital footprint, syncing 80s funk grooves with drags of Euro-fused electro over Beans' hearty verses. The Anti Pop Consortium co-founder also teams up with the likes of Cities Aviv, Kool A.D., and Sub Con on several tracks, making it all the more important that you download it right now.

Album Stream: Tallows - Memory Marrow

Fans of the weekly Bandcamp Weekly podcast may have caught wind the succinctly good pop echoing from Oklahoma City natives Tallows. The band recently put out a nine-track LP on Bandcamp, which can give a good grasp of the subtle experimental touch, crowded by warm and engaging bedroom pop. If not, stream the effort below, which is out now.

Freddie Gibbs and Madlib - Deeper

Gary, Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs, once again, has paired up with Los Angeles' preeminent producer Madlib for another gem.

"Deeper" is the first taste from the upcoming EP of the same name, which preludes the duo's 2014 LPiñata. So it's pretty safe to expect some explosive stuff from these two within the next few months. Until then, check out "Deeper" below and grab the Deeper EP before it ships out September 9.

Cults - High Road

Following July's first taste of Cults' upcoming sophomore LP Static, the dream pop duo released the swimmingly crafty "High Road."

The track comes off as direct and sweet with Madeline Follin remaining charmingly subdued throughout. It's a distinctly mellow take from the duo, who seem to be growing from their 2011 self-titled debut. Check it out below and grab Static October 15 on Columbia Records.
